Term Definition
Account Activity All accounting transactions that have posted to a reserve/clearing account at the Federal Reserve Bank.
Account Balance The sum of opening balance, funds transfers, national net settlement, book-entry securities transfers, prefunded ACH, and all-other activity. 
Account Reports Summary list of accounting transactions posted to an account. Reports may include Statement of Account activity for five previous business days; on-line real-time notification of selected types of accounting transactions; and advices for miscellaneous accounting transactions.
Additional Information Provides additional text, as applicable to each notification or advice.
Advices Confirms a transaction has taken place and provides supporting information for selected types of IAS transactions.
Affected Correspondent The correspondent affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Affected Master The master account affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Affected Respondent The respondent account affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Affected Subaccount The subaccount affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Affiliate Totals include account activity for an affiliate institution.
All-Other Activity Accounting transactions, excluding funds transfers, national net settlement, book-entry security transactions, and prefunded ACH.
All Respondents Totals include activity for all respondents clearing through master, subaccounts, and respondents, as applicable.
All Subaccounts Totals include activity for all subaccount holders and applicable respondents clearing through subaccounts.
Amount Dollar amount of transaction.
Available All - Other Activity Totals from the all-other activity that are applied to the account in accordance with the daylight overdraft posting procedures.
Available Date The date funds will be available for use, if applicable.
Available Funds Balance The sum of either the Daylight Overdraft Balance or the Account Balance plus the net total for memo post, net debit cap, and collateralized capacity, as applicable.
Batch Number An internal Federal Reserve number assigned by the CCWU processing the transaction.
Branch Number A four-digit number identifying the branch of an institution, if applicable.
Cash Management Service A fee-based service providing summarized check and ACH activity.
CCWU Number Federal Reserve cost center work unit processing the transaction.
Collateral Available for Daylight Overdrafts Value of FR collateral pledged less any outstanding loan advances. When assessing fees, the Federal Reserve compares, ex post, an institution’s end-of-minute value of collateral available for daylight overdraft purposes with the institution’s end-of-minute daylight overdraft to determine whether and how much of that minute’s overdraft was collateralized.
Collateralized Capacity The additional daylight overdraft capacity available to an institution through the pledge of collateral, when applicable.
Collateralized Daylight Overdrafts The portion of an institution’s end-of-minute daylight overdraft balance that is considered to be fully collateralized.
Correspondent The correspondent affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Date The business date the transaction is posted to a reserve/clearing account.
Daylight Overdraft Balance The sum of the Account Balance less the net of the unavailable all-other activity, in accordance with the daylight overdraft posting procedures.
Daylight Overdraft Posting Time The time, in Eastern Standard Time, that the transaction is applied to an account in accordance with the daylight overdraft posting procedures.
Debit/Credit Field Indicates whether the transaction is a debit or a credit.
Deferred Totals Total deferred amount becoming available to an institution's account and its respondents on the requested date.
Description A brief description of the transaction type.
FRB Contact Number A telephone number to call with questions about the transaction.
Intermediate Identifies a first tier respondent, if applicable.
Master Account A master account is a record of financial transactions that reflects the financial rights and obligations of an account holder and the Federal Reserve Bank. It is where opening and closing balances are determined. A master account view includes totals for the master, subaccount(s), and respondent(s) activity, if applicable.
Memo Post Amounts provisionally posted by the Federal Reserve Bank on an exception basis.
Net Debit Cap The maximum dollar amount of collateralized and uncollateralized daylight overdrafts an institution is permitted to incur in its Reserve Bank account at any point in the day. The net debit cap is generally equal to a measure of an institution’s capital times the cap multiple for its cap category.
Notification Online real-time notice of selected types of immediate accounting transactions.
Offset ABA The routing number of the other institution affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Original Cash Letter Amount The amount of the original cash letter transaction, if applicable.
Own For a master account holder, totals include master activity excluding respondent(s) and/or subaccount(s) activity, if applicable. When a subaccount holder is viewing, totals include subaccount activity, excluding respondent activity, if applicable.
Posting Time The time, in Eastern Standard Time, that the transaction was posted in IAS.
Processing FRB The Federal Reserve Office creating the accounting entry.
Reason/Float Code A number used by the Federal Reserve to identify the type of as-of adjustment being processed, if applicable.
Reference Number A four-digit internal Federal Reserve number assigned by the CCWU processing the transaction.
Respondent Identifies a second tier respondent, if applicable.
Self A self-view includes totals for the inquiring ABA number plus respondent(s) activity, if applicable. Excludes subaccounts if a master account is viewing, and excludes the master account if a subaccount is viewing.
Service Category Identifies transaction service type.
Single Respondent Totals include activity for a specific respondent ABA number.
Single Subaccount A subaccount is an information record of a subset of transactions that affect the master account. A subaccount view includes totals for a specific subaccount and any respondents clearing through the inquiring subaccount ABA number.
Statement of Account An accounting statement produced daily that identifies all account activity for your master account, subaccounts, and respondents.
Subaccount The subaccount affected by the transaction, if applicable.
Transaction Amount Dollar amount of transaction.
Transaction Code A number used by the Federal Reserve to identify the transaction type.
Unavailable All-Other Activity Total from the all-other activity that have posted to an account that are not yet available in accordance with the daylight overdraft posting procedures.
Uncollateralized Daylight Overdrafts The portion of an institution’s end-of-minute daylight overdraft that is considered to be uncollateralized.
2-Digit Service Category A two-digit number that identifies the service category type (i.e., ACH, Cash Letters, Returns, etc.).
4-Digit Transaction Code A four-digit number that identifies the type of transaction (i.e., City Cash Letter, Country Cash Letter, Cash Letter Adjustment, etc.).

Viewing Master Account Information

Term Definition
Master Totals include master, subaccount(s), and respondent(s) activity, if applicable.
Own Totals include master activity excluding respondent(s) and/or subaccount(s) activity, if applicable.
Self Totals include own activity plus respondent(s) activity clearing through the master ABA number, if applicable. Excludes subaccount(s) and their respondents' activity.
Subaccount Totals include activity for a specific subaccount plus respondent activity clearing through the inquiring subaccount holder ABA (routing) number, if applicable.
All Subaccounts Totals include activity for all subaccounts plus respondent activity clearing through each subaccount, if applicable.

Viewing Subaccount Account Information

Term Definition
Master Totals include the inquiring subaccount holder's master account activity information. This view level includes the master account activity, subaccount(s) activity (including the inquiring subaccount ABA number), and respondent(s) activity, if applicable. The master account holder must approve the subaccount holder viewing the master level information. 
Own Totals include account activity for the inquiring subaccount holder ABA (routing) number, excluding respondent(s) activity.
Self Totals include own activity for the inquiring subaccount holder ABA (routing) number plus respondent(s) activity clearing through the inquiring ABA (routing) number, if applicable.
Subaccount Totals include account activity for a subaccount associated with the inquiring subaccount holder's master account. The master account holder must approve this view level.
Respondent Totals include activity for a specific respondent clearing through the inquiring subaccount holder ABA (routing) number.
All Respondents Totals include activity for all respondents clearing through the inquiring subaccount holder ABA (routing) number.
Affiliate Totals include account activity for an affiliate institution. The inquiring depository institution can view its affiliate's master, subaccount(s), and respondent(s) information, as applicable.

Daylight Overdraft Reports

Term Definition
ABA Nine-digit identifying code assigned to an institution by Rand McNally to facilitate the sorting, routing, and processing of transactions to/from that institution; also known as a routing transit number from the DORPS Customer profile.
Address Address of the institution.
Average Daylight Overdraft Equals the sum of the End of Minute negative balances divided by the number of minutes in the accounting day (1081).
Average Overdraft for Date Totals Sum of overdraft figures contained in the above columns divided by total intervals in processing day.
Book Entry Balance Balance reflected on a institution's report for Book Entry (i.e., Treasury and certain government agency securities) related items.
Capacity See Single Day Capacity or Two Week Cap (Two Week Average Capacity).
Capital Measure of an institution's current Capital Amount.
Capital (As Of) Most recent update date for a Capital amount.
Cap Rating One of six classes: High, Above Average, Average, De Minimis, No Cap, or Exempt from filing; an institution can assign itself one of the first three as a result of its self-evaluation.
Cap Rating (As Of) The assignment date of a institution's respective Cap Rating.
Cap Utilization Ratio The Single Day Cap Utilization Ration equals the amount of the total peak Fedwire® overdraft divided by the Daylight Overdraft Capacity (which is equal to the lesser of Single Day Adjusted Capacity and Maximum Capacity). The Two Week Cap Utilization Ratio equals the Total Peak Average Overdraft amount divided by the Daylight Overdraft Capacity (which is equal to the lesser of Two Week Adjusted Capacity and Maximum Capacity). 
Capacity Adjusted Funds Balance (Adjusted Funds Balance) Equals an institution's Funds only balance amount, plus any non-wire activity.
City The City of the institution.
Closing Balance The ending balance amount for an institution at the end of a day.
Collateral Assets pledged by an account holder to secure the extension of intraday credit by the Reserve Banks and to provide a ready source of collateral in the event the intraday overdraft is not extinguished by the close of business and/or a discount window advance is necessary.
Comment (if present) If an interval has been excluded on the DORPS End-of-Minute file, the text will appear here.
Contact Name Name of contact person, as specified by the institution.
Credit Option The credit option (weighted or fractionalized) chosen by the institution.
Date Date of data being reported.
Daylight Overdraft Charge The daylight overdraft charge amount calculated after factoring in an institution’s applied deductible.
DI Depository Institution
Discount Window Eligible Collateral For foreign banks only. (Will not print for domestic institutions.)
Excess over Single Day Adjusted Capacity Equals the Peak Fedwire Overdraft, minus the adjusted single-day cap, if greater than zero.
Excess Over 2 Week Cap Total Peak Average Overdraft minus the Daylight Overdraft Capacity (which is equal to the lesser of Two Week Adjusted Capacity and Maximum Capacity).
Explanation of Adjustment This line will only appear for institutions that have comments.
Fedwire Balance Applicable balance in an institution's Fedwire Account, taken at an end-of-minute interval during the 1081 minute Fedwire day.
Funds Collateral Collateral reflected on an institution's report consisting of Funds-related items.
Funds Only Balance Adjusted Funds Balance minus Non-Wire Activity Balance.
Gross Overdraft Charge Amount The calculated overdraft charge amount for an institution, prior to factoring in the deductible.
Maximum Daylight Overdraft Capacity The maximum dollar amount for daylight overdrafts allowed for a particular institution. An institution must apply for, and subsequently be granted, the ability to have a maximum capacity amount assigned. This field will remain blank for all institutions without a maximum capacity amount.
Maximum Daylight Overdraft Capacity (As Of) Assigned date for Maximum Daylight Overdraft Cap.
Maximum Overdraft on Date Totals Indicates the highest overdraft figures contained in the above columns.
Name The name of the institution.
Non-Wire Activity Balance Balance reflected on an institution's report that includes all non-wire activity.
Opening Balance The opening balance amount for an institution at the start of a day.
Original Advice Date End date of the Reserve Maintenance Period from which charges on the original advice are derived.
Page The page number of the report.
Penalty Fee Amount The Penalty Fee assessed to an institution. The minimum charge for a Penalty Fee is $25.00.
Period Ending MM-DD-YY Ending date of the two-week reserve maintenance period for which the report applies.
Program Program number of the program generating the report.
Run Date System date in the computer when the report was run.
Run Time System time in the computer when the report was run.
Single Day Adjusted Capacity An institution's adjusted capacity measure, if different from single day capacity. (Will not print for domestic institutions.) 
Single Day Capacity Maximum net debit position allowed on a single day across Fedwire. Single Day Capacity is computed by factoring an institution’s capital measure with their respective Single Day Cap Multiple.
State State in which an institution is located.
Time Time at the end of the intervals for which the data is shown.
Title Title of the contact person, as specified by the institution.
Total Amount of Charge Reduction The amount of the charge adjustment.
Total Charge Sum of Daily Daylight Overdraft Charge for an institution.
Total Peak OD An institution's total peak overdraft amount in the given two-week period. 
Two-week Average Adjusted Adjusted two-week capacity, if different from two-week capacity. (Will not print for domestic institutions).
Two-week Cap (Two-week Average Capacity) This figure is the maximum average net debit position allowed during a two-week period across Fedwire. It is a combination of an institution's Two-week Average Cap Multiple and its capital measure. 
Two-week Average Utilization Ratio Calculated as the average of (total Fedwire daily peaks minus collateralized Book-Entry overdrafts at time of Total Fedwire peak) divided by the amount of the two-week adjusted capacity. 
Two-week Fedwire Average Overdraft Amount The calculated average of total Fedwire daily peaks divided by number of days in monitoring period. 
Unadjusted Total Charge Original 2 week charge for an institution.
Value of Deductible Amount of the appropriate applied deductible for a DI.
Zip Zip (Zone Improvement Plan) Code of the institution.

Term Definition
Detail of Own Activity Includes transaction details for all immediate, deferred, and future items passed to a correspondent account.
Items Through Your Correspondent (available to respondents) Includes transaction details for all immediate, deferred, and future items processed through a subaccount and settling in a master account.
Items Through Your Master Account (available to subaccounts) Includes transaction details for all immediate, deferred, and future items processed through a subaccount and settling in a master account.
Respondent Activity Includes transaction details for all immediate, deferred, and future items for each respondent.
Subaccount Activity Includes transaction details for all immediate, deferred, and future items for each subaccount.
Summary of Activity Includes a summary of activity by service category, including a summary of activity by subaccount and a summary of activity by respondent, and future as well as deferred items.

Cash Management Basic Reports

Term Definition
Account Holder's Own Activity Report Contains:
  • An opening balance;
  • A summary of the account holder's own account activity (except for Fedwire Funds and Fedwire Securities) at the service category level (Cash Letters will show summary information for City, Country, RCPC, Mixed, Group Sort, and All Other Check, and ACH will show summary information for ACH Immediate and ACH Prefunded);
  • The subaccount/respondent recap lines (totals of all subaccount/respondent activity charged to the account holder, including three tier relationships for maturing deferreds); and
  • All other account activity (excluding Fedwire Funds and Fedwire Securities). The Account Holder's Own Activity Report also provides deferred and future information processed today.
Subaccount Recap Activity Report Contains a summary of all subaccounts’ account activity in a format similar to the Account Holder's Own Activity Report, excluding an opening balance. The Subaccount Recap Activity Report also will include a respondent recap line. Totals appearing in this line are for respondents that clear through a subaccount of the master account. A subaccount recap line is not applicable for this report. 
Individual Subaccount Activity Report Contains a summary of account activity for each individual subaccount. The format will be similar to the Account Holder's Own Activity report, excluding an opening balance. The Individual Subaccount Activity Report also will include a respondent recap line. Totals appearing in this line are for respondents that clear through the applicable subaccount. A subaccount recap line is not applicable for this report. 
Respondent's Recap Activity Report Contains a summary of all respondents' account activity in a format similar to the Account Holder's Own Activity report, excluding an opening balance. The Respondent Recap Activity Report also will include a respondent recap line. A subaccount recap line is not applicable for this report. 
Individual Respondent's Activity Report Contains a summary of account activity for each individual respondent. The format will be similar to the Account Holder's Own Activity report, excluding an opening balance. The Individual Respondent's Activity Report will include a respondent recap line. A subaccount recap line is not applicable for this report.

Cash Management Plus Reports

Cash Management Plus Reports include individual details for all transactions except Fedwire Funds and Fedwire Securities in a comma separated value (CSV) file format and can be received up to six times a day.

The intra-day file includes your own transactions plus any respondent and subaccount transactions settling in your account. This file provides you a preview of the transactions that will be posted to your account at the end of the day.

By using this file, you can post account information throughout the day to monitor and reconcile your account balance. You may also want to provisionally post transactions to your customer's accounts to provide them with real-time account information.

The report can be downloaded by service category or all account activity and can easily be opened in a spreadsheet format such as Excel. All totals shown reflect details that have posted to the Federal Reserve’s Accounting System.
